"Stay Tuned" ... we've gone fishing for a new format

January 15/17

Dear Port Hope Jazz Supporters

Port Hope Jazz Inc. will be taking a sabbatical from presenting its annual fall All-Canadian Jazz Festival in the Park. (It will continue to present other jazz events, highlighting Canadian musicians, over the coming year, including the upcoming Swing Dance with Big Rude Jake)

After fifteen successful years, the Board hopes to investigate a new format for presenting modern Canadian jazz and other music to the citizens of Port Hope and the greater Ontario audience.

In the meantime, the current Board would like to thank its loyal supporters for the generous contributions received from donations, corporate and local business sponsorships, and municipal, provincial and federal grants. You have been steadfast in your support of Canadian jazz. The Festival could not have happened without the many volunteers who made the weekend a welcoming and well-organized event.

To the many very special musicians who have been the reason for audiences to come to the Festival - thank you for your participation. We are proud of the almost 200 acts we have presented, such as the emerging artists who made up each year’s Young Jazz Showcase, Kelly-Lee Evans, Sophie Millman, the Jensen sisters, the sold-out concerts for Jeff Healey, Oliver Jones and the Montreal Jubilation Choir, some of the legends like Peter Appleyard and P.J. Perry, the multi-talented Kevin Turcotte and Mike Murley, the impressarios such as Michael Kaeshammer and Michael Occipinti, the fusion sounds of The Brass Transit, Shakura S’aida, Downchild - only a few of the many. A special shout-out to vocalist and M.C. extraordinaire, Heather Bambrick.
